Mistake Poem by Rue Ravenclaw

Mistake

Sweet is love
As peaceful as a dove
So immense
With such suspense

I recall-
It was barely fall
When we met
The story was set

We put each other in our hearts
As if nothing could tear us apart
It was magic, I tell you!
Until I was fatally sick with woe

One day, as I stand
I noticed you, hand in hand
With another desire
But all I saw were flames of fire

I had kept you two apart
Had put you in my heart
Forever and more
With all those feelings of amor

You are disgusting and a dirty trickster
Why didn’t you just tell me, mister?
You walk away with your new prize
Leaving me to cry out my eyes

Suddenly, I realize
I no longer need you, whom I demise
The tables have turned
Now it’s your turn to get burned

I remember
In late September
You, too, had put me
Inside your heart, what a victory!

I twist up everything in this cold space
That I found was once as warm as a fireplace
Kindling with our affection
Now it’s filled with bitter rejection

All my spite
You fight with your might
Clutch at your chest, you may
But I’m not done, to your dismay

At you I rake
With all my strength can make
This pain, you can’t take
Now you’ve learned, you’ve made a mistake
