Missing You (A Poem Written To My Beloved Cat) Poem by Camilla Fodgaard

Missing You (A Poem Written To My Beloved Cat)

You were there
just for a moment
observing the world
and then you disappeared
I couldn't reach you
I couldn't smell you
but I could feel you
you wanted to break free
you wanted to release me
You said 'be free,
let me go, and be free'
You were gone too fast
the life I had with you was too short
I still hope for your return
I still wish for your health
and I dream of you
and I wonder
was this simply another dream
or were you really there
comforting me
being noble
was it reality
or did I just want to see you too hard
I don't know
but at night I swear
the curtains blow with no wind
I feel your warm body on my duvet
I feel the softness of your fur between my fingers
and if I listen really carefully
I'll hear your beautiful voice in the distance
calling for me
