Mirage (Old) Poem by Shelby Barker

Mirage (Old)

I find myself walking through a desert, where
An invisible sun beats down on me -
I sweat profusely.
I walk
And glance at flowers blooming in cracked sand.
I see an apparition - a pool, of
Dancing diamonds
and Glistening glares.
I gaze, wide eyed..
If only you could have seen what the water
looked like
under inflatable palm trees,
Almost cliche;
Still, they left shade
And still I gaze with wide eyes,
flying high (when my engine stalls) ..
So, reality, did you miss me while I was dreaming?
I’m still sleepy.
