Mind-Boggling Adventures! Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Mind-Boggling Adventures!

Rating: 5.0

Pandemonium broke out in the country
when the guest workers agitated for
buses and trains to go back home.
The angst-ridden youths shouted
at public places, bus and train stations
Without food, and salary denied bellys.
Some of the dared to walk home with aplomb
mindless of the arduous journey.

From Varanasi to Howrah, paddled
a cycle-rickshaw man a staggering 700 kms.

Jyoti Kumari, a VIIth class girl
set out on a perilous journey from Delhi
to Bihar, with her injured father on
the pillion seat of a second-hand cycle.
Aftrr all 1200 kms is nothing to worry.

Ramu Ghormare lugged a cart with his wife
carrying and his child on it
from Hyderabad to Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh.
It was an 800 kms journey on one meal a day.

When a Hindu boy fell sick in a truck
which plied from Surat to Utter Pradesh,
The fellow passengers threw him out
as they doubted him infected with Covid-19.
His Muslim friend too got down to help the sick one.
The Hindu boy breathed his last on the lap
of his friend. He died out of dehydration.
