Mere Mortals Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Mere Mortals

What is this?
Mortals bleeding themselves
Over paper-thin castles.
Do not undress my
Heart
Gentle lurker
You might find her.
Do not undress her
Heart,
Filthy wanderer
You might find me.

And so you did
And tinkered with ours
From where you
Thought we were broken,
Not anymore
We took the words of the
Gods
And drank the madness
Of the nights away,
Gone astray
To where you will
Never find us.
