Memory Poem by Edward Rhodes

Memory

As time so swiftly passes, and the pace
Grows ever faster with advancing years
Could it be that the memory of your face
Will be seen keener as the darkness clears?
The clouds of grief and bitterness, though true
Can sometimes falter, will they ever fade?
And leave behind the memory of you
With all that you accomplished, all you said
And yet behind my hope, I nurture fear
Fear that my memories at last will fail
And all that I hold fast will disappear
And I have nothing left, only my wail
And so to your remembrance, words I give
That in my words, my love for you might live
