Memories - By A Rose Poem by Anjali Mandokhot

Memories - By A Rose

After years of imprisonment,
I am seeing light for a while
Gratitude! O! Memories of her lover
I'm led out to be given a smile.

As she holds me to behold
Not me but him, reminiscently,
I fend out of these sulphured pages
Blinding sudden light glares intently

Flashing the visions of my past life-
The breeze that just passed shaking me coldly
Used to play and tickle my coyness
Breathing my fragrance fondly.

This piercing moisture reminds me
How it cherished my warmth, once
And adorned me with a magical bead
Alternately, in light, that shines and crimsons,

And light, this very light around
Bringing out my withered self now,
Once bowed and romanced me to blush
Until dusk, leaving fond memories in tow,

And this bee passing away hurriedly
Stalked me once, wooing and stinging
And how proud I stood
Not ready to be swept away, unrelenting,

Yet aware of the nectar within,
Playfully relishing the game of seduction,
Hoping to satiate my own carnal desire
Of nurturing the seeds of procreation.

Lost I was, in the sapidness of life, when-
Oh! A sudden jerk, all my nerves shrinked
As if the blood in them was sucked.
Ah! Excruciating pain! As if all over pricked.

Ho! Hell! To the worst of my horrors!
Plucked! Plucked! I was to be gifted
'A rose for a rose', last words I heard,
As from coarser to softer hands I was shifted,

And alive! Yes alive I was buried!
In these pages, to be choked in darkness.
For company my epitaph 'A Dead Rose'
And pain, asphyxiation and loneliness.

Merci! Merci! Before this bail terminates,
O! Sun burn me.O! wind scatter me
And spread me all over my beautiful abode
That once did surround me.

And O! Man I promise never to be a rose again,
For it seems to be a crime against thee
Yet I curse you! To live once a life of a rose
In thorns and terror of being plucked by me.

'A Dead Rose' by Elizabeth Barrett Browning has been my inspiration.....She sees a dead rose thru human being's point of view....and i present the rose's view.........not to refute her..for it would be like a speck is trying to outshine the sun.......but to urge
Please don't pluck flowers
