Memorial Day Poem by Harold C. Smith

Memorial Day

Rating: 4.9

Somewhere the sun isn't shining, there is just rain
Somewhere a family is in mourning with a lot of pain
Somewhere beneath a white cross lies their only son
War has taken his life before it had hardly begun
Somewhere people are striving to be free
Like in this country the land of liberty
Somewhere there is the happy song of a little bird
Somewhere the mournful sounds of Taps can be heard
Somewhere as you travel along life's busy highway
Stop and honor our veterans on this Memorial Day
