Mellow Light Poem by Sandra Fowler

Mellow Light

Rating: 4.9

I think forsythia is mellow light,
Beyond the confines of all wrong or right.
That warms war weary eyes against the night.

The power of its brave statement after pain
Makes one believe that hope is not in vain.
Something resembling sun will rise again.

Sheer beauty has the solace to restore
The soul until the ignorance of war,
Is nothing but a shadow anymore.

Shine on Forsythia burn like a prayer,
For those who sent their good-byes home by air.
We wish for them, always a spring somewhere.

more than anyone else, those suffering in war need to be reminded of beauty, hope and love....and the forsythia with its sunshine of color can very well be that reminder of one's humanity.....

Like this, the three lined stanzaic structure, good rhymes.(One small point, did you capitalise Forsythia with intent in the last verse, and in the first verse not?) . Excellent write.

Hi Sandra - this is a perfect poem in structure - metre - rhyme and content. It merits a MAX. The FORSYTHIA is so beautiful and bright that it is a perfect metaphore for linking our love and prayer and God's love to those who are our protectors. V 1 The colour of Forsythia to lift our spirits and 'Warm war weary eyes against the light' V 2 The power of the Forsythia to release from pain and restore hope 'Something resembling Sun will rise again'. V 3 The beauty of Forsythia to eclipse 'The ignorance of war' V 4 The touch of the Creator in Forsythia 'Like a Prayer' enables us to 'Pray for them a Spring somewhere' - Excellent Love in Poetry - JOHN.
