Meadow World Poem by Jonzo Bandwagoner

Meadow World

Under a red night sky
Our arms embrace, no sound
Is heard 'cept soft breathing
And a distant bleat from the farmlands,
The world across the meadow earth.

I am going to war.
Like boys, b-bgun fire,
My cap is painted red, yet
These new stains are permanent, they
Are human dye, slain silent in pain.

You pull me close, holding
My heart with warm, wet tears.
Puffy and swollen, you're eyes are magic;
I kiss your brow. With the wind whipping,
We sit listening to our somber embrace.

Then I depart. You cry out, those
Cap red eyes begging, pleading,
My heart is breaking! I cannot think clearly.
So I wipe away the blue moist stains
From my eyes and move my feet, leaving.

But from across the meadow world, I look back
On your figure, still broken and alone,
And with my tongue, lungs bursting,
I shout, 'In Christ alone, our hope is found! '
Even from afar I see your heart swell.

The torpid grave awaiting me
Is not the end

Writers have tried and some have succeeded in capturing what you did so powerfully in the 5 stanzas but they all miss the glory of the last phrase tied with the words in quotes...great pinnacle. Way to bend words into your own special use, I love it. -landrey
