Maybe I'Ll Take A Deep Breath Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Maybe I'Ll Take A Deep Breath

The flame splits into four parts
How much of this can you take
A feeling like no other
I feel splinters and thorns
Poke at my sides, then my forehead
The pencil drew its line
Across the shore, seas and skies
A nervous heartbeat deafens me
But it begs, pleads to hold on
Just a little while longer
The rainbow is caged behind a hill
The love dances in the dark
Maybe I’ll take a deep breath
And steal the sunlight for my own
