Massasauga Saga - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Massasauga Saga - Lincoln Park Zoo

I'm an endangered rattlesnake,
An eastern massasauga call.
At the Lincoln Park Zoo I make
My hatchday with my siblings all.
Of note are my vibrant blue eyes,
But they will fade with my first shed,
And my rattlers will grow in size,
And noise as I shed skin ahead.
I have some venomous fangs, yes,
But humans are not my choice bite.
That would be yum rodents, I guess.
Don't step on me, you'll be all right.

So come and see me at the Zoo,
And I will rattle just for you.
