Martyr Poem by Spencer Zimmerman

Martyr

The martyr is currently forgotten
The One who stood before the church!
Before we built our theoretic lives
Looking into the eyes
Seeing through the soul
Opening doors
Creating waypoints

Missive like the ancients
Weak agnostic perspective
The question is the answer
Though evidence does not provide
Knowing that particles collide
And lies no longer wear a disguise

I will not speak until I have word
For my discouragement is a massive herd
Of submissiveness to my own self-worth
Because I have yet to pay dues to the Earth

Subjective to objection
Balancing a thought so conscious
With a voracious appetite of moderation
When in finding the golden mean
Between each and every extreme

Have we forgotten the martyr?
Have we lost our way?
And what profound measurements we take!
When speeding up life's pace

Oh how could you have forgotten?
It seems not that long ago
The martyr walks among us all
As a light amongst the dark cove
