Married Forever And Still Playing By The Rules Poem by Ted Sheridan

Married Forever And Still Playing By The Rules

Rating: 4.8

I just went to the grocery for some bell peppers
Gravy mix and water chestnuts sliced thin in a can
Two round steaks and a bottle of soy sauce
Oh yeah, and some rice named 'Success'
With a name like that how could I fail?
A woman turned around to face me in the checkout
And taking a guess as to what I was fixing
She said, 'Pepper Steak sounds good to me'
As she was licking the remnants of what appeared to be
Day old Twinkie cream from the corners of her mouth
Wishing not to offend this obvious connoisseur of Oriental cuisine
I explained how I was eating alone tonight for dinner
As my wife was out of town for the night
And other than frozen pizza there was nothing in the fridge
She offered me her services and her company if I'd like
To have her over for dinner and a drink
Now I know what you are thinking.....
While the Cat's away...the mice will play
Under no circumstances would this prove true
For I have not a wandering eye for anyone other than my lovely wife....
So I gracefully declined her self invitation with a sigh
As to how I only wished I could get away with such a date
But my wife was the jealous type and I'd rather not....
Rule number one...never leave a woman without a smile on her face.....
