Mahabharata 31: Making Here, Breaking There He Plays Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Mahabharata 31: Making Here, Breaking There He Plays

Making here, breaking there,
Uniting here, separating a pair;
The Lord acts in His free will,
Indulging in His desire still,
The, Lord plays as suits his joy,
Kids play as if with a toy.

Here is the transliteration of the original verse:

sam-prayojya vi-yojya ayamkāma-kāra-karah prabhuh |
krīđate bhagavān bhūtaihbālah krīđanakaih iva || vana 30-37 ||

This is another philosophical gem from Draupadi. Note the alliteration of the k sound. Note:sam-prayojya = uniting/making (here): vi-yojya = disuniting, or breaking (there): kāma-kāra-karah = one acting at will, indulging in (His)own desire, one with a spontaneous deed; krīđate = plays, sports; krīđanakaih = with play things, toys.
