Low Poem by Smoky Hoss

Low

Rating: 5.0

I reach low into the world
upon which I trod
take a handful of dirt,
ponder it closely
searching for a sign of souls
who've come before me.
From this earth
come we all, and
unto it shall return, so
where is everyone?
How low
must we go?
Earth is home.
Our beginning, our living,
our resting place.
This little, lonely planet
amongst the trillions, and
each one of us,
one of trillions,
so low into the cosmos,
can do no more than reach down
finding our past and future
mingling together.
There is a confirmation of self
down low, deep.
Something beyond naming;
yet, within reach...

what comes to mind reading this one, smoky, is the meaning from hebrew of adam. the three consonants that form it are the same that form the name edom, the nickname of jacob's brother and the country the sprang from him. edom means red. adam, for all humankind, translates as red-earth person or people. -glen

The confirmation of self, of life to which we are so blessed and lucky to have can be measured in that handful of dirt to which you speak. Great poem Smoky. You are always a great read.
