Lovers: The Sun And Earth Poem by Suresh Dogra

Lovers: The Sun And Earth

Like a coy lover
making his first overture
the sun caresses
the languid earth
with mild light
in the morning

Its glowing intimacy
blazes into a heat
when at noon it holds
the earth in passionate embrace
melting in the evening
in exhausted coolness
lapsing into the black night

Daylight amours of the sun and earth
enacted by human lovers
under the dark cover of night
trace the trajectory
of mild dawn, blazing noon and cool evening
capturing the rhythms of Nature
in the echoes of their heartbeats
and their heaving bodies
