Love Thoughts Poem by Ayotokunbo Ajewole

Love Thoughts

We are all looking for Love,
the rich seeks a trustable friend,
the poor seeks one to make straight his bend.

Love is the free gift of life,
the release from the prison of self.
Only then, can you love your neighbor as yourself.

Love is more than a beautiful word,
for no deed has a meaning without it – Love,
It was first shown to us by God above.

Love is the school where all learn to Love,
and rise above jealousy and all selfishness,
above all self and self-righteousness.

Love, given, is never lost,
Love to a friend, or to a total stranger,
Like a seed, you’ll reap what you sow, near or far.

True Love is that which sees beyond the surface,
to touch into the soul of another human,
A Miracle that happens whichever way it can.

True Love trusts and forgives,
Just as Christ forgave us our sins,
True Love empties its hurts from its recycle bin.

True Love is gentle, not forceful,
Many have tried, perhaps too hard and have failed,
terrified to try again, such think of its cost.

True Love is costly, for it risks being rejected,
but really there is no fear in Love.
It should be offered, pure and white as a Dove.

True Love seeks not to capture another for self,
Its no struggle, just an inner strength giving way,
for another to hear and understand what isn’t said.

Let Love flow to and from the depths of your heart,
for then you’ll find the meaning to this life,
you would be spared from many a strife.

Never hate anyone, for hate destroys you.
Lilies come out white in a pond of mud.
Let it go, and Let God.
