Love Song



You taught me all the things I had not guessed,
Nor looked for, saying that they were sweet
And life was not given for less.

You taught me to be weak and how to need
Unneeded, love unloved, and wish
Upon impossibilities.

You taught me how to drink the bitterness
Rejection offers to her parting guest
Who finds his own way out.
