Love's Longing
It's gloomy and pouring
and my heart is yearning
for the distance between us
has been made mean
the sun's warmth suppressed
and emotions depressed
by the bleakness around
love's embrace not found
would you brave the rain, dear
for our souls to be made near
that though gray clouds hover
the longing shall be over
only then our hearts shall be no longer cold
for in each other's arms we shall enfold
