Standing here with my arms around you
Giving you a fake smile
Knowing that I can’t have you

Knowing that we will never be together
Seeing you with her
Knowing that you love her and not me

I come home crying
Sometimes wishing I had never met you
Knowing that’s a lie

Wishing you liked me
I feel like I’m a nuisance when I’m with you
I feel like I’m a child that doesn’t know when to stop

I don’t want to embarrass myself, so I don’t stay around anymore
Instead I go to my car and think and write
If only you knew how much I still liked you

Even tho I have a boyfriend, I still like you
You were on my mind tonight
I can’t stop thinking about you

I can’t force my mind to stop thinking
About you
It hurts me when you don’t answer my call

As I stand here on your porch
Waiting for you to come to the door
I think, wishing you would hurry

When you don’t come, I cry
I know you are there
And yet…you don’t answer

I cry as I walk to my car
Knowing that I will never have you
You would never like me

As I look in my car,
I spy my pocketknife
The blade still sharp from never being used
I open the knife to revile the shiny blade
Looking at my reflection on the blade saying
“I will never be good enough for him”

Thinking about what I might do but closes the blade
Knowing that I could never end it
That’s the coward’s way out

I’m no coward
I’m just hurt

I realize that I’m never going to be good enough
I’m just second rate material
You have her now

She has the whole package and I don’t
At times I wish I was yours
Then reality hits me

I’m never going to be good enough

So as I sit here tonight
I think about you
Wishing I had the courage to kiss you when I had the chance

Wishing I could have another shot at kissing you
I would not be so afraid
I would take that chance and go for it

Never regretting

Never forgetting

The choice I made that night
