Love Of My Life Poem by Demontray Lockhart

Love Of My Life

You turn me on like an off switch
Or an inactive apparatus that has
Been left in a pile of rubbish. I
Was in a deep sleep, a coma state.

There was no point of return or no
Need to return until you turned me
On. You brought red to my feet, move-
Ment to my body.

You brought life back to my body and
Breath out of me. You restored my
Biological clock so that it's now ticking.
You gave my heart a jump start so now
It's pumping.

Sensation has entered my hands so that
I can feel a love that's more real.
My ears have been drained of wax
To sculpture a perfect model of love.

Vision has been restored in my eyes so
That I can see beauty. Voice has been
Given to my larynx so that I can comple-
Ment it.

I am no more a vegetable and disable.
I am more than able with strength of a
Thousand men; with love that's ever more
Potent; and with a desire to exist again.
