Love Like Winter Poem by Jacquelyn Gagnon

Love Like Winter

you wont read this
you have no reason to
it was just a kiss
probably meant nothing to you

saw you at wal*mart while standing in line
so many candy canes, so little time
how christmasy could one room be?
you knew it was a whoville tree

watching random shows on tv
eating all the roomates snacks
giving up because i cant see
i wont be there when she gets back

of being hurt im terrified
but there we were side by side
lying awake at odd hours of night
taking cover from the brighest light

in the comfiest bed, made of down
hungry we hit the street
dunkin donuts is across town
but its the only place to eat

'last night was cute' you had to say
i agree and look away
cuz i dont want u to see me blush
every day the greatest rush

listening to music, i did dance
wait, since when did you have no pants?
tickled me until id cry
jumping bed to bed, you tried to fly

turned you down at the touch of a nose
but thats not true, i just froze
too much attention makes me shy
getting mixed signals you waved goodbye

finally i decided id be brave
take down the walls and leave the cave
all the halls i did roam
but that was the day you went home

unwillingly did i pack
unsure if you were comming back
everyone was leaving for christmas break
i thought i would enjoy it, that was my mistake

now im waiting for next year
the day i find who didnt return i fear
but maybe i learn how you feel
until then nothing seems real
its like im living in a twisted dream
so confused, i just want to scream.
