Love I Question Thee Poem by Matthew Holloway

Love I Question Thee

Love has left me
My heart no longer sings
Such melody escapes
Memories once held
A smile long since lost
Forgets a broken heart
And so it is as it may be
Love it seems has left me
-
Time has passed in a blur
As though in a hurry
Time waits for no man
And leaves little behind
Now looking ahead
To an empty future
Due to pass in a hurry
Never to stop
-
Love, that word spoken
Has become changed
Warped and mutated
It serves no emotion now
Just a phrase to suit
Comments and poetry alike
Love such a word feels empty
-
The hope of a resurrection
A revival of the soul
The defibrillator to a life
Long since forlorn to love
To love, to love, ahh what a word
The weight of which carries
Dependent of the hearts of others
-
Love a subject matter no more
Love a portrait of a better life
Love a sample of hope and soul
Love something altogether whole
Love elusive and obscure
Love it seems, eludes me
