Love Fifteen Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Love Fifteen

Rating: 4.6

Love Fifteen

Sun Heated lawn
amidst noon
many tennis-looking eyes
good new balls
bouncing
nearest nook Bois de Boulogne
soon
makes the lawn cozy nice
two ladies playing the game
since centuries equally the same
the sun is tiring the players
the sky above has many layers

during a fortnight they play for the winner
the champion of Roland Garros
a true winner
the true winner
we'll see who is she?

a fortnight tennis games
perhaps the umpire is the famous old James

one play, it goes for hours
love fifteen and the rest
they certainly do their best

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Each year a fortnight championship for tennisplay at the Roland Garros tennis clay courts in Paris, France. Now France has still its curfew, so the watchers at the tribune must go home before 21.00 PM and the players may till they finish the games, mostly we see first ladies single plays, but we can attend only one play at a fixed time, one play can last for hours, Roland Garros belongd to the Grand Slam plays, that means that is one of the 4 greatest Championship games, the others three are Wimbledon in the UK, Flushing Meadows (New York) in the USA and the Australian Open in Melbourne Australia. As a tennislover and an amateur tennis competitioner I know everything about the tennisrules professional as well as non-professional.

A well crafted poem with great images. It made me feel like I attended this wonderful game because of its compelling imagery. Very informative and well presented too.
