Love Could Not Last For All Eternity. Poem by Brett White

Love Could Not Last For All Eternity.

Do not write on Love, she calmly bade me.
The emotion of my words betrayed me,
When I nodded sweetly as to Agree-
"Love could not last for All Eternity".
Inwardly, my Heart plainly disagreed,
Though my Smile found a friend in yours indeed.
Sweet thoughts often please the palate the most,
Amidst the Bitter Haunting of a Ghost.
Long gone, not forgotten, still on my tongue:
Thy name, the source of many of my tears brung;
Brought forth to explode with such Passion,
My failure borne not of indecision.
Thirty years to me was never quite enough,
To prove to me that Life is just too rough,
To keep trying when things don't go my way,
During my 31st, in my Heart's where you'll stay.
