Sometimes When Caged, Freedom Seems Lost Poem by Brett White

Sometimes When Caged, Freedom Seems Lost

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes when caged, Freedom seems lost,
A memory fading like Smoke,
Drifting on the ocean, a ship tossed-
In Winds of Fate, Mother Nature's cloak.
She reveals Her ways to us all,
Briefly shining, ever so clear,
Crisp and Sharp, like the leaves in Fall.
My past, despite Pain - I hold dear
And near to my Heart, lessons learnt.
And my heart, Dear, still beats with Love,
Love tinged with the odour of Hope Burnt.
So I sit in my childhood grove,
Flowers in Summer on my face,
Me and Nature - nobody else
To disturb this Heavenly Grace.
My Soul to Beauty, must acquiesce,
Powerless to Wind's parting kiss.
The smell of Nature on my lips
Keeps negativity amiss.
The Sun beneath the trees, He dips
With elegance not of this world.
And the Moon she proudly Rises,
Her red carpet, the Stars, unfurled-
Her Majestic Enterprises:
Worlds beyond worlds, a sight to see.
Peaceful now is my Soul in Awe,
Stars twinkling, an Epiphany
Grips me as I hear Nature Call,
'My Dear Boy, cherish not things lost,
Live Forever just for today,
Allow Love your emotions to sway,
But be not a ship at Sea tossed.'

She was my everything and I her man,
In what seems to be now a distant land,
Lost forever inside memories gone,
I call upon God when I can't go on.
And comfort, She comes in the dead of night,
Where my reading lamp is the only Light.
Beloved books remain on my bed,
Oh, but how I wish it was her Instead.
Laughing and kissing away all my fears,
Never giving a reason to shed tears.
And in the absence of a departed Love,
My fears, alone, I shall face as if drove
By a force teaching me about Life,
And how to deal with Pain's sharp knife:
Delicately and with quiet dignity,
From Fate and God's Will I shall never flee.
And I take comfort in the simplest things,
Like the Bluebird in Winter as he sings
A song of Hope and not of cold despair,
His love for the moment, his only care.
And like the Bluebird I shall always sing,
Even as my heart continues to sting.
