Love Birds
Engrossed we were in love
Never conscious of the danger
Lurking behind the yellow green leaves
But quick eyes alert and watchful
Spied the gliding glittering creep
As he came to snatch one of us.
Cunning and evil as he was
We watched him
Glide away sly and sheepish.
