Love And War Poem by Louie Levy

Love And War

Love and War

Victories are goals for death and reward
Of prejudice and assuring esteem
Leading youths sacrifice for life with
warlike competitive battles for success

While this modest writer, less caring for fame,
eludes disgust for the selfish and respects the
underdog who see beyond the fallacy of glorified winning

O, should we have learned better reasoning,
better accomplishments for proudness of character.
Would our worlds inhabitants, be closer to peace?

Only love of self and others be of one goal for the
un-denominating factor, with no fraction for war

Primitively, there were indigenous cultural societies of life
With the fittest becoming who we are, continually evolving.
Earth shares her unselfish cornucopia for all life's survival
Greed and selfish governed societies hoard with war, for yet more.

Those, like myself, aging to one's mortal, fateful
unpredictable, predictable term, peacefully, with
desperate emphasis, relate to some time no too long past-
in our youth, hung banners, sang and preached without
controversial religious sermon...

'Make Love And Not War'

Love and empathy will prevail over the ails of existing
inhuman plague and its eventual Armageddon.

Sadly, defense must overpower offense of such
contaminant, un-befitting Earths Omnipotent Generosities.
