Love - An English Sonnet Poem by Iris Blue

Love - An English Sonnet

Rating: 5.0

When gaze meets gaze and souls are thus exposed
And two hearts beat and syncopate as one;
Is this the start of love’s true tale composed,
Or just a transient moment soonest gone?
If whispered words still echo in your heart
And smiles are etched long after you have left
Is this a sign that love has made it’s mark
Or just another failed romantic quest?
For if my guarded heart should now reveal
My love for you is more than you should know,
A life without the love your kisses seal
Would surely be a lifetime full of woe.

If love can stir the senses each in turn,
What fool would not chance love’s flame now to burn?
