Love Poem by Dennisa Davidson

Love

Hey, watch that gent
His way things just went
Built his power, his ivory tower
She made his bed
Kept him clothed and fed
Cradled babies at night
Melt her candle to let them have light

And now, oh!
The kids, they have grown
The money is there to be shown or thrown
And love… it’s slid through the sink in the bathroom!

See her crying
Watching the sunset coming
All her life built for them together
And now there’s only one of the each other
Where did it go, the forever?

Hey, watch this gent
His way some things went
Had his day, made some hay
She made his bed
Kept him clothed and fed
Cradled babies at night
Melt her candle to let them have light

And now, oh!
Their birdies, from the nest they have flown
They are graying, listen to what they are saying
The love… it grew stronger as they stretched it longer!

See them laughing
Watching the sunset coming
Love was well used, to die did refuse
The essence of Time flavored Love rich like wine
Labors for love, makes better their shine
