Lost Soul, Found Poem by Chloe Coleman

Lost Soul, Found

I grasp desperately at my neck
craving anything moist
My life is such a wreck,
my wishes go unvoiced.

I hear a faint dripping sound,
'Water! ' I think.
It is the voice of things un-found,
wishing for a drink.

My shriveled up soul,
hungering for peace!
How I long to be whole!
begging for release.

I crawl slowly forward,
searching for a path.
I try to go Eastward
facing the Sun's wrath.

How Could I come this far?
only to lose my way?
I lost the Northern Star,
I know what I must say.

Slowly I get up,
So that I can kneel.
I set down my empty cup,
Now it's time to feel.

Hesitantly the words come,
As I start to pray.
from my heart the words hum,
I will live another day.
