Losing Symmetry Poem by gershon hepner

Losing Symmetry

Maggie tells her father Adam Verver
that they will lose their symmetry when she
moves to her husband, who does not deserve her
because he is in love with Charlotte. We
do not relate with symmetry to parents,
and parents don’t relate with symmetry to us,
but do not realize the great aberrance
until we leave our home with lots of fuss.
Love tries to be symmetrical, but balance
depends on many factors. When you’re cheating,
dissymmetry distorts all balanced talents,
and you will probably end up defeating
the expectations of the lover you
adore, because your needs don’t correlate
with his or hers, and you become a cuckoo,
unbalanced, since you can’t equilibrate.

Inspired by The words of MaggieVerver to her father Adam, telling him that she can’t bear the thought of move to another house with her future husband Amerigo because the separation will cause her to lose her symmetry.
