Longing Poem by emmanuelle sanders

Longing

Look at her, you may think she’s perfect.
She has everything, everyone in her league.
But there’s actually something behind her mask.

She’s pretty, intellectual, and rich,
But she’s abused by her stepfather.
Just using the smile she wears as a façade.

She has a clique and a hot boyfriend,
And her charm makes everyone bow down to her.
But she feels like an outcast with the elite.

She wants to get away from it all:
Her stepfather, her friends, and her ‘hot’ boyfriend.
For she’s longing for freedom, longing for love.

You may think she’s different, but no.
She’s just like you and me and everyone else.
Trying to find the one true place where she belongs
