Long Breeches Poem by William Hutton

Long Breeches

BY A BEAU

Parody

Ladies, I have lost my legs,
Have you seen my breeches;
Pride of all the race of wags,
Which every Beau bewitches?

I for these my legs forsook,
And my belly cram'd in;
Neck and heels they almost took,
And there my legs are jamb'd in.

Never shall you see them more,
For they're past discerning;
All your joys in legs are o'er,
While you their loss are mourning.

Whither can my legs be flown!
Ladies, tell me whither:
Ah, woeful case! perhaps they're gone
For ever and for ever.
