Lonely Valentines Poem by emily summers

Lonely Valentines

Bittersweet mixture of feelings stirring,
the love I can't cease,
the hatred that has developed,
the only way of expressing this is through tears.

Weakening my strength,
wanting to fight you,
but failing,
falling into darkness.

Sharp pain living inside,
growing with every breath I take,
worsening every time I see myself,
bubbling into rage when I see you.

How contented you appear,
how obviously inconsolable I am,
I can manage a half-hearted smile,
but all I desire is to be whole hearted again.

I loathe you for making me complete,
lulled me into a false sense of hope,
like a predator hunting prey,
only to pull my happiness away.

As I glance into the rainy mist,
I realise that's how I feel within,
I realise I only hate you,
because my love isn't reciprocal,
you didn't deliver,
and now I will pay.
