Locked Up Poem by Kayaeisha Shaw

Locked Up

The door slams shut
All alone in the dark
Sweat drips off my skin
Heart beating overtime

The fear kicks in
I pray to get out
I do not belong in this place
While sleep evades me

I have dark thoughts
That scare me more than
Being in this horrible place
Stuck in this hell hole and can’t escape

Do not know if it is day or night outside
Hoping it stays night
Night can be scary
But day is even worse

Morning comes too quickly
I hear my name called
My door slams open
I step out of my cell

Afraid to look around
So I just look down
I know I am entering hell
My life will never be the same.

The door slams shut
All alone in the dark
Sweat drips off my skin
Heart beating overtime
