Locked Away. Poem by Ben mcelfresh

Locked Away.

Look at me now.
Tell me what you see.
But don't just look on the outside
Look into my eyes.

Can you see into my heart?
Or does the door prevent you?
Do you see the lies and walls that protect me?
Or can you see all of it?

Please tell me what you see.
Because i'm so lost to myself.
I need to know just who i am.
Before i lose all sanity.

But if you can't see just yet.
Stand there and knock.
If you truly care then i'll let you in.
So you can see the side of me i keep hidden.
Locked away to protect even myself.
