Lock And Key Poem by Hemchandra Dutta

Lock And Key

Rating: 5.0

I purchased it the other day
From a foot path at Ganeshguri Chariali
It cost me sixty rupees
To gaurd my belongings worth the name

I am a punny journalist
I have full faith upon my pen
My neighbour is a wise man
But I believe my lock more than him

My room is rife of books
Mice play in my absence
Foods cooked a couple of days back
Smells typically at the kitchen

Love letters which were never sent
Animate my table like a lamp
A sachet of condoms secretly placed
Whispers about the night nicely passed

With Laptop, Blackberry and writing sheets
All go to make me a Hem

The lock of sixty rupees
Faithfully gaurds my room
From the advance of the thief
And the wise man

But, from yesterday
I am getting to lose faith upon the lock
As they say
It was made by a fox.

# ganeshguri chariali: It is a busy spot at Guwahati, Assam.
