there’s a faint reflection on the lake
is it mirrored from the sky
a glow so bright and vivid
I want to catch it with my palms

I run over with my butterfly net
to see if it had wings
but it was no butterfly
just words, issued from your breath

I feel a sudden passion
my eyes grow wide at you
making me want to let out a piercing cry
your eyes had stars

in the nick of time
I’ve lost all words to say
whatever you wish to tell me
quiet I will be, love, I am listening
