Like A Violin And A Bow Poem by Alexandre Nodopaka

Like A Violin And A Bow

Like A Violin and a Bow
at L'Estaque 1906 Andre Derain
for Andre Derain, Rimbaud and Verlaine

Too much sanguinity
for my peace of mind.
I don't care it is Marseilles.

Rimbaud never wrote there
A Season in Hell and
Verlaine, could never have

painted it either.
He never was such artist.
Yet he belongs there

as much as does Arthur.
That's how vivid their fauve
association was.

I'd quote one over the other
but that would be
presumptuous even though

I think of myself a painter
from a different perspective
a fraction their poets' stature
