Life Vs. Sin Poem by Garrett Westcott

Life Vs. Sin

They say life is good
Others say they've had enough
Some live a life of misery
Others full of love

What makes one man happy
What makes another frown
One woman wears black
Another a wedding gown

God is not to blame
For this awful wreck
The culprit lurks within us
The war is neck and neck

Life fights with sin
Struggling for a breath
Sin is choking life
Looking for a death

Every soul knows the battle
The war between right and wrong
Sin is on the warpath
Who will sing the victor's song

Without our God beside us
We would be falling on the field
He is our only Master
Our Buckler, Sword, and Shield

Death befalls us all
That's not the only fight
Only one can save from hell
That's our Savior Jesus Christ

God the Father sent His Son
He paid the penalty for our sin
When this world is over
The next age will begin

Sin longs to be your master
By yourself you can not win
Crawl to God while you can
Before they call your next of kin

Alleluia! to the King
Who wears the crown of life
He faced the grave in battle
And was victorious in the fight

He rose from the dead
Now stands at God's right side
The pure and spotless Lamb
Full of peace, love, and life
