LIFE ITSELF

From childhood's genesis I have not been
like others were; I have not known
like others have known; I could not talk
My life from a common river flow.
From the same legs I have not felt
My sorrows; I could awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved to be any others.
Then- in my youth hood, in the noon
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of soul and ill
The mystery which binds me to tries:
From the canes, or the lushes,
From the long walks of miles,
From the sun that melted me to death day by day
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the stormy rains,
I was shocked in my ‘beau-ti-full life’
Hope for tomorrow is what I have written.
