Life In Repetition Poem by Bidisha Panda Mukherjee

Life In Repetition

Rating: 3.5

Silent as the whispers of darkness,
Seemingly beautiful,
Promising moonlit evenings,
The soothing breeze fills my smile

When it tuned into a raging monster-
I never knew,
The willow tree outside my window cries
As I look at my life passing by!

Promises of prosperity,
Promises of rain
To fertile my barren lands,
Promises, promises, and promises
Its predecessor had made
The successor in its wrath blew all away,
The roof of my haven would soon follow there
The strong walls of my home
I built with my love and care
Would bend their weak knees in pain.

Endowed with optimism,
Along with the flickering light of my candle
Determined to build new walls- -
I watch the moon close
its door on me
A new promise again !

The tempest in its wake
has left me naked,
I shall build again,
Stronger walls, stronger bonds
and wait for the storm to return,
To destroy, to break, to strip my home away

There is no end to the journey,
No companion to hold my way,
The road runs in circles
Where you end, there you start
Everything remains the same
With only a change of shrub here and there
Nothing changes, yet all
Life shall go on

Realism eventually sets in -
