Letter To The Debutant Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Letter To The Debutant

Dear Debutant,

You are no more just a girl today
You are turned to someone who can say
That your will has its own preference.

This begins in this day of your life,
This happens the time you realize
Your days start to become different–

All of a sudden the world changes,
All of a sudden there are phases
That Life wants you to experience.

And as you see all of these come true,
My prediction starts to show in you.
You will see these words are persistent.

So by that time, please feel free to cry,
Especially when you’re asking why.
Kindly remember it’s not the end–

Life goes on to a better place
And you understand why there is grace
In spite of the twists of its novel.

I'll watch over you like a father,
I'll be around you like a brother–
And I will speak to you as a friend.

For though this was not my first motive,
I decided to change perspective
So that better things will unravel.

Happy birthday to you, dear Lady!
You’ll find out more in your life’s journey.
I’ll lift you up to God in prayer.
