Lethargy Poem by Andrew Raines

Lethargy

Breathing the temporal miasma of inadequacy
Trapped in this frail mortal shell
Oh how this earth has imprisoned me
Stranded betwixt Heaven ‘n’ hell

O Fortuna why hath thou forsaken me?
Has this time been all for naught?
I await the time I shall be set free
Out of this web in which I am caught

For man lives not in truth but the shadows of lies
Untouched by the gods’ golden sheen
This bitterness, corruption, swallows my cries
For they know not what I’ve seen

From this dream I hope to wake
And for the maker this pain to break.
