Let Me Sing Poem by Varghese J Kuttikat

Let Me Sing

Rating: 2.8

I sing this song spiritedly
And an ache strikes at my heart suddenly
As the voiceless multitude perishing in misery
Grab at my five senses and rush into the very core
This is no momentary pain, but a lasting
Cancerous pain, leaping from a grievous wound
Monstrous, implacable and seemingly irremediable
I plead with the multitude: forgive me brethren
Let me sing, for my song rises from your anguished silence
Won't you all rejoice at nightingale's or cuckoo's songs?
O forgive me brethren, I sing for you and for me
It may be too much to ask of you love or tenderness
Just bear with me, one day we shall sing in chorus.
