Let Me Burn Poem by Bireswar Halder

Let Me Burn

Let me burn continuously, like a candle
I’ll radiate light for all, those floundering in dark
Darkness is the curse you and I will long to escape
None feels the burn of a slender wick.

Let me burn like an incense stick
I’ll billow out aroma for all
Fragrance will stretch out over every spirit
It’s the balmy smell, not the ashes, that remains

Let me always spread broad smiles over all
Let my heart clear out the pain that nags me
Who on earth gets lit up by a pale face?
I’ll live to share hearts and joys of all.

Let me serve others as a human mission
No, I know nothing in return, only the joy I share
I am one blessed to mingle my world with many worlds
My world grows each passing day in these worlds.

Let me share my ecstasies, my smiles with all
But no anguish, no nightmares that are purely mine
I am not destined to be mine alone, I’m also for all others
Let me burn, radiate light and breathe fragrance.
