Let Go Of Your Pride Poem by Linda Racaniello

Let Go Of Your Pride

If only you could let go of your pride
Long enough to see the love I hold inside
Your love grows wild in me
It holds a passion that could forever set us free

But no, you have turned a blind eye
You hold on to regrets and never cry
I know I must go, spread these broken wings
But I am so afraid – to move forward and change things

So as I lift up what’s of my severed heart
I wish I wasn’t coward, I wish I could make a new start
I wonder if I will ever be strong enough to say goodbye
but I’m not right now, can’t spread these wings or fly

I loved you for so long, for all you would ever be
You were all I ever hoped for, or wished to see
I loved you for your boldness and quiet shyness
For your kisses and your ever frequent kindness

Lord, set me free from the pain I keep locked inside
Help me grow strong knowing that I will never be his bride
With your help i say goodbye to the tears that fill my face
I hope to never love again, or believe in its embrace

In my heart I’ve kept the secret away from prying eyes
I hate that I will love you until the day I die
My love for you was the purest in form and forever will be true
And etched in mind are your eyes of crystal blue
