Leon And Leonard Poem by Bill Galvin

Leon And Leonard

Two souls of sensitivity;
Two craftsmen of the word;
Two poets for the everyman,
By love and song were stirred.

Two pages of originality;
Two notions undeterred;
Two chapters in the book of man,
Where lyrical brilliance has occurred.

"A Song For You" sung for us all,
While Russell wrote about a dove.
"Halleluiah" rang from hall to hall,
When Cohen wrote about a love.
No more wondering what might have been,
As they've both gone "Back To The Island";
Now they both reside where they belong,
A hundred floors up, on the "Tower Of Song".

Two views of musicality;
Two versions to be heard;
Two visions of a loving man,
Gone and quiet within a week…
Two singing birds…
Star-light conferred;
Two birds of color and mystique,
Gone and silent within a week.
